SPI Celebrates 35th Anniversary

South Padre Island will be 35 years old this April, and the city has a 4 day pirate-themed festival planned to celebrate. The event will begin April 10 and run through the 13th with family friendly activities that the planners hope will become an annual event-Pirate Days. There will be a ceremony at the new City Hall on April 10, a birthday party with cake and ice cream on April 11 at Louie's Backyard, April 12 will have a Pirate Bazaarrrr Family Festival at Louie's Parking lot, story telling at the Beachcomber's Museum, sandcastle and kite flying lessons on the beach and more, Sunday April 13 will have the wind-down brunch at participating locations on the Island. We will be posting more information as it becomes available.

Tickets for the Friday event at Louie's are $5 and include a buffet and entertainment by the Bongo Dogs and the Saturn Street Strummers.  There will also be a pirate costume contest and a fireworks display over the bay.
